Full time Fixed Term position – Up to 12 months
Located at Police HQ, Devizes
37 hour working week in an agile work environment (60% office based)
Salary £32,736 - £34,332 pa, plus essential car user allowance

Do you have knowledge and experience of journalism or a similar environment, with knowledge of Media Law? Are you able to review complex data, and communicate this in an audience friendly format? Are you looking for a role where your exceptional communication skills and attention to detail really can make a difference? This is a fantastic opportunity to join as a Media and External Communications Officer within Corporate Communications on a fixed term basis. This is a fast paced and highly reactive role - as part of the media team you will be called upon to provide timely support to police colleagues on the front line. 




You will be responsible for providing a proactive news service with your creative multi-media content supporting criminal investigations and the operational needs of the Force. Your work will help to produce positive outcomes and address how we prevent and respond to emerging issues and risks.  




Main duties will include:

Creating compelling news packages online, through social media and the press.
Support and develop campaigns for the Force which will include an element of internal communication.  
Media liaison, management and strategy development
Develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies:




The successful applicant will have:

Good organisational skills with the ability to manage several projects and conflicting timescales with a proven ability to work to tight deadlines.  
The ability to compile media releases and statements ensuring messages are not lost. You will also be able to build and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders and external agencies.  
A keen interest in current affairs and understanding of the media is also important.  
Proven experience in a similar type of role eg journalism or other media-related disciplines.
Ability to build relationships (both internally and externally) and effectively manage expectations.
