Summary

Fixed term for 6 months due to funding - Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO). You will be joining a large, supportive, and strong performing team of IROs, and will focus on children looked after.
The applicant will be social work qualified with a current fitness to practice registration with Social Work England and with at least equivalent status to an experienced children’s social work team manager.
The applicant should be able to provide evidence that they have sufficient relevant social work experience in children’s social care to undertake the required statutory functions, the ability to communicate with children and young people, the confidence and ability to work constructively with senior managers, offering a critical perspective and appropriate challenge, a thorough understanding of the legal framework relating to looked after children and care leavers, a thorough working understanding of the legal process and the issues involved when a local authority makes application for a care order, experience of providing social work supervision and support and knowledge of the evidence about what makes for good quality practice in working with children and families to safeguard children and promote their welfare.
The successful applicant will have the skills needed to chair effective child-led reviews. You will need to be able to build and maintain highly effective working relationships with children, young people, their families, social workers, their managers and with a range of partner agencies to help drive progress and positive outcomes for looked after children in Hull.
