GIC - Private Equity

GIC’s Private Equity group consists of teams investing through funds and directly in companies across both Private Equity and Private Credit. We currently have over 100 active relationships with Private Equity and Private Credit fund managers and have invested directly in more than 1,000 companies globally across multiple sectors.

GIC Private Equity’s credit arm, the Private Credit Group, is an integrated team of 20+ investment professionals based across London and New York. The Private Credit Group has a global mandate which covers three main routes to market:

Private Credit funds and co-investments: Invest in Private Credit funds, separately managed accounts and co-investments

Credit secondaries: Invest in credit fund secondaries through funds and co-investments and direct transactions

Direct investing: Directly underwrite LBO loans across the capital structure (first lien, unitranche, second lien, unsecured loans, PIK, preferred equity, structured equity)



Job Description

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join the Private Credit Group as an Associate, based in London and part of a sub-team of seven investment professionals focusing on 1) Private Credit funds and co-investments and 2) credit secondaries, predominantly across Europe and North America.



This role is a three-year contract as part of our Associate programme.



What you will do as an Associate

Participate in all aspects of the underwriting process for Private Credit fund investments. This will include evaluating the fund manager's strategy, track record, portfolio companies, investment and execution capabilities, as well as culture and alignment and will also involve meeting and appraising senior management at top investment firms

Participate in all aspects of the underwriting process for co-investments offered by our credit fund managers. This will involve evaluating key risk/return drivers, market dynamics, historical and projected financial performance, management teams, capital structures and deal terms

Participate in all aspects of the underwriting process for credit secondary transactions including evaluating fund managers, portfolios, modelling scenarios as well as structuring and execution

Make and defend investment recommendations in both oral and written communication with investment committee members and at investment committee meetings

Portfolio monitoring (funds, co-investments and secondaries)

Project work typically related to strategy and portfolio construction, including internal portfolio updates

Help to maintain relationships with existing managers and relevant advisors (including attending fund managers’ annual investor meetings)



What makes you a successful candidate?

A strong academic background

2-3 years of work experience in any of: leveraged finance, M&A, or secondary advisory at a top-tier investment bank (Analyst level); direct lending at a Private Credit firm; fund selection at a Private Equity/Private Credit fund of funds. Some prior exposure to the Private Credit and/or Private Equity industries is an advantage

Excellent financial analysis, modelling and PowerPoint skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong business acumen and commercial judgment

Strong interpersonal skills

Responsible, proactive, hard working and ability to work independently

A team-player, with maturity, integrity and the ability to engage with senior counterparties
