The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking to appoint a full time, fixed term Teaching Fellow specialising in Cognitive / Usage-based Linguistics.



The Opportunity:

The successful post holder will provide high quality teaching delivery and assessment support at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, specifically in the area of cognitive/usage-based Linguistics.

They will actively contribute to the overall intellectual environment of the School play a collegiate role in the overall functioning of the Linguistics and English Language Department.

The post is ideally required to start from August/early September 2024, and will be based in our central campus, Edinburgh.



Your skills and attributes for success:

Relevant qualification in Linguistics/English Language (or closely related field) with relevant post-graduate research and/or teaching experience in cognitive/usage-based linguistics, with a focus on syntax and/or semantics, and/or historical linguistics/language change
Experience in design and delivery of effective undergraduate and postgraduate university teaching (and experience of supervision would also be desirable).
Postgraduate research experience in Linguistics with evidence of outstanding potential.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience of online course delivery.
