Full-time: 35 hours per week
Fixed term: 2 years
A postdoctoral position based in the Metabolism, Diabetes and Obesity Theme in the Centre for Cardiovascular Science. The postholder will work on a number of cell therapy projects under the guidance of Professor Shareen Forbes investigating translational projects in islet transplantation for the treatment of Type 1 diabetes.
The Opportunity:
There will be a particular focus on optimising islet transplantation through the use of cellular therapies and microparticles in preclinical animal models so as to improve islet engraftment and long-term function of islet grafts. Projects utilise state-of-the-art imaging in preclinical diabetic mouse models and work with our experienced research team and others across the institute. The salary for this post is £40,497 to £48,149 per annum.
Your skills and attributes for success:
PhD in a biomedical discipline
Excellent knowledge and relevant practical research experience in molecular biology and cell biology.
A current animal licence with experience in working with rodents years is essential.
Experience of common imaging and related analysis software used in cell biology.
