This post is an important part of our ongoing development of services at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, offering the successful applicant the opportunity to work closely with the existing colleagues to provide a high standard of care across the Trust.

Applications are invited for a 6-months fixed term Consultant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.This post is based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage and comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) with an on-call commitment.

This is an excellent opportunity within the Plastic Surgery department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.

The Trust has a comprehensive programme of leadership mentoring available for newly qualified Consultants. Opportunities are also available to other Consultant appointees to play an active part in the programme.

The appointee will be expected to cover clinical sessions specified in the provisional job plan, as below. The appointee will join a team of eight consultants, three specialty doctors and a full complement of junior and support staff. The ability to work closely and flexibly with colleagues including consultants, junior staff and management team is an essential requirement for this appointment.

• To provide a general plastic surgery service with a specialist
interest in Hand Surgery, Peripheral Nerve and Brachial
Plexus surgery and Limb Reconstruction (including
microsurgery) as well as on call service
• To provide a comprehensive service utilising a wide range of reconstruction procedures.
• To participate in the department’s teaching, audit, research and educational activities.
• Maintenance of high-quality patient cantered care.
• Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service and participation in strategic planning
• Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary servic
• Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity
• Active participation in continuing medical education
