About the role:



You will report to the Head of Engineering, helping to make a difference in a challenging environment. Initiating and implementing performance improvement plans for the Northern fleet Management for key projects. Analysing unit performance, building business cases for improvements, investigating technical and safety issues and incidents and providing technical support to the TrainCare Centre teams, to help us get the right information out, to the right people, at the right time.



You will be travelling around the Network and further afield to engage with colleagues and stakeholders and to attend meetings but there is a degree of hybrid working flexibility depending on work requirements.

Key responsibilities:



This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:

Investigating safety and technical problems arising from fleet maintenance, cleaning and repair activities.
Assisting in the preparation of working instructions and provide technical advice as necessary in connection with modifications, experiments and special checks.
Assisting in the preparation of performance related data and produce fleet reports as required on a periodic basis. Cascade this data to improve fleet performance and general awareness of fleet trends
Liaising with contractors and specialist engineers as necessary to resolve technical problems and procedures, materials component problems (both within and outside the scope of the warranty system) and in connection with modifications, experiments and special checks.
About you:



You will have an Engineering qualification to HNC standard or working towards and significant experience within engineering and people management, with particular emphasis on railway vehicle engineering and depot environment.



We’re also looking for the following:

NEBOSH Certificate or working towards essential
High level of interpersonal skill
Experience of safety, quality and technical product audits and audit techniques.
