Have you got experience of project and programme management within a dynamic environment?
Do you have experience / a strong interest in leadership?
Are you a keen problem solver with the ability to work at pace?
If so, we’d love to hear from you!
The Resilience Analysis International and Sanctions Directorate within DfT is the home to the Aviation, Maritime and Borders Analysis (AMBA) Division. AMBA’s principal objective is to ensure that good quality analysis underpins the Department’s policy development and decision making relating to aviation, maritime and borders.
We are looking for this role to instil programmatic rigour and oversee programme delivery within AMBA. We are a highly skilled analytical team comprising economists, operational researchers, social researchers and transport modellers delivering a wide range of often complex and high-profile analysis outputs. Our outputs range from regular statistical publications to large scale, complex analytical projects to quick turn-around analysis to support a major incident. The division’s work is often innovative and technically challenging, operating in dynamic areas of policy development. Our specialist skills are highly sought-after; demand often exceeds our capacity; therefore, careful prioritisation and planning of our work is important.
This role is sought to bring programme management expertise into this team of analysts, to help us to deliver more efficiently and make the very best use of the specialist resource we have. This is a new role and therefore has scope for you to shape and develop it as you gain experience.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Working with the AMBA leadership team to create processes and tools to enable oversight of AMBA’s entire programme and rigorous prioritisation of requirements.
- Implementing management systems so that risks, issues, actions, and lessons are actively captured, reviewed with respective activity being assigned, tracked and reported on.
- Working across teams to ensure effective and successful delivery of programmes and projects including upskilling of colleagues.
- Providing project delivery expertise across AMBA, helping the Division to deliver more effectively and driving improvements in our ways of working.
- Working with the policy teams AMBA supports to understand how their delivery plans and risks could affect AMBA.
