Salary: £66,072
Hours: 35 per week
Flora Stevenson Primary is a large primary in the North West of Edinburgh. We have approximately 640 children in the primary school divided into a three-class arrangement at each stage. We have 60 full time nursery places for 3-5 year-olds in term time. Support for children and families is provided in conjunction with our partnerships from a wide range of local agencies.
Flora Stevenson Primary School is part of the Broughton High School Learning Community, alongside Stockbridge Primary School, Granton Primary School and Ferryhill Primary School. Our school comprises of three buildings; Main School, P1 Building and Nursery.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Depute Head Teacher to join our team. Our current leadership team consists of the Head Teacher, 3 Depute Head Teachers and a Business Manager.
The successful candidate will:
- be an excellent communicator and able to build relationships and work in partnership with all staff to ensure best outcomes for all learners
- be able to work in partnership with external agencies to ensure best outcomes for all learners
- Develop parent engagement and involvement through excellent communication and creative and innovative approaches
- Establish creative, responsive and effective approaches to teaching and learning and ensure a culture and ethos of challenge and support where all pupils can have a voice, achieve success and become highly engaged in their own learning
- Develop work in pupil voice and pupil leadership groups across the school
- Work as part of the SLT to facilitate improvements in attainment, attendance and equity
The school is also the home for the primary section of the City of Edinburgh Music School. Auditions are held annually to offer gifted musicians from across the Lothians and beyond, the opportunity to further develop their skills.
There is an After School Care Club and breakfast club based in our dining hall. The club is run by a Board of Trustees who are parents/carers of pupils in the school.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
