This is an excellent opportunity to work in a busy teaching hospital, gaining a wide variety of surgical skills and experience in General Surgery, Upper GI cancer, and a regional trauma centre. The candidate will take part in the General surgical on call middle grade (SHO/CT/FY2) rota covering General Surgery/ Upper GI.

The successful candidate will be required to work in partnership with colleagues of all disciplines, external links to the Trust and service users, to ensure the creation of a quality service. The post holder will be expected to commit to shared goals in the department by building effective teams and partnerships and valuing the roles and contributions of others.

The Post holder will have an adhoc on call rota (weekdays long days/nights, weekend long days/nights, 08:00-20:30 and 20:00-08:30) for weekday daytime CEPOD theatre shifts (08:00-17:00).

You will support ward rounds daily with the Clinical Teams.

The post holder will be responsible for the supervision of junior staff in their specialty. The department works closely with the University of Manchester, and medical students are frequently based in the Department. It is expected that the post holder will contribute to their ongoing education, and to that of any Physician Associate and ACP trainees attached to the unit.
