Summary

A Vacancy at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

The Evelina Paediatric Neuropsychology service is seeking to recruit to a fixed-term maternity cover position within our team. We pride ourselves on providing expert neuropsychological assessment and consultation that is formulation driven and compassionate, and you will provide this input to children and young people with a range of neurological and other health conditions.

The ideal post holder will have significant paediatric neuropsychology experience and will have demonstrated an ability to develop a specialist knowledge of the neuropsychology of a particular condition. Line management and supervisory responsibility will be expected from the postholder, so experience in this area is desirable.

Membership of the BPS specialist register of clinical neuropsychologists is not required for these posts, however we welcome applications from candidates who are wishing to pursue this route. Indeed, this post is an excellent opportunity to develop a broad experience of neuropsychological assessment and consultation as part of the QiCN.

Interviews will be held on 3 July 2024

The post holder will provide neuropsychology assessment and consultation, liaising with referrers, MDT colleagues, and community services to gather and share relevant information. There will also be opportunities to develop resources to meet the needs of children and young people seen within this service. The key clinical focus will be with children and young people with metabolic conditions, and there will also be involvement in a specialist clinic with patients with complex motor disorders. Supervision of junior colleagues is a key part of the role, as well as involvement in audit and service development projects. Recent projects completed in the service have included mapping needs of stroke patients, reviewing referrals alongside deprivation and ethnicity data, changing consent processes, and developing child friendly reports.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate neuropsychology skills within assessment, formulation, and consultation. They will be systematic and well organised, creative, and have excellent communication skills with patients and colleagues.

The post holder will join a small team of practitioner psychologists from clinical and educational psychology backgrounds. The team sits within Evelina Neurosciences, which has a strong psychology presence. Within the Evelina London Children’s Hospital and Community Services there is a larger psychology service covering Paediatrics, NICU and Cleft. We also have the benefit of working with our paediatric psychology colleagues from the Royal Brompton and Harefield. There are many opportunities for developing specialist skills and learning from diverse range of expertise within the service as a whole and across GSTT.

Please see the attached Job description and Person Specification for full details.
