DWP Digital is the digital part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). We build and maintain digital services that enable millions of people to access the help, advice and financial support they need.
You'll be part of a supportive team where you will work together to design and build the right things. The role may not be easy at times, but you’ll be well supported, and you’ll get a minimum of 5 days learning and development annually.
If you are disabled and have any problems or concerns with the application process, email: digitalrecruitment.grs@cabinetoffice.gov.uk
Please note this role requires you to pass Security Check clearance. For further information, please see 'Selection process details'.
The role is within our Data and Analytics area (D&A) supporting DWP’s route to Cloud by transforming our data products and services
The team in which this role sits is responsible for the transformation of existing data products into agile-driven provider/consumer data feeds, operated according to product principles.
We are looking for a user driven enthusiastic Lead Product Manager to join us and work within our data and analytics portfolio. You will be accountable for a portfolio of data enabling products and be responsible for making evidenced based strategic and tactical product decisions, making key priority calls and owning a portfolio roadmap and vision.
The post holder will be responsible for coordinating a team of product managers, sharing priority-setting responsibilities with a delivery manager and a technical lead. You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading a portfolio of data products known as Data as a Service
- developing the product strategy
- owning the product roadmap
- making key priority calls
- making evidence-based strategic and tactical product choices
- communicating product success to stakeholders
- explaining controversial choices about your product
- coaching less experienced product managers.
Our Data and Analytics (D&A) teams ensure that our data is secure, fully accessible to all users and stored in the right way so people can use it to make decisions. Your area of responsibility will be within the data products and services division, focussed on the transformation activities that underpin our newly approved data strategy, enabling the hub & spoke model and decoupling data feeds into provider and consumer data products.
You will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and work closely with the deputy director to push forward the enablers that allow teams across D&A to deliver robust and secure services to all our users.
This is a challenging role where you will be expected to manage competing priorities both within your teams and also the teams that rely on the capabilities of your products. You will help drive forward change and innovation while working with other areas of DWP to grow the maturity of the organisation from a data perspective.
The role will involve line managing colleagues in the team.
