We seek to recruit a highly motivated, experienced nurse with substantial clinical experience in caring for acutely unwell patients to join the friendly, dynamic Acute Response Team. Candidates should have a proven record of initiatives that support the recognition, monitoring and escalation of the deteriorating patient and have the commitment and passion to inspire and encourage clinical staff across the Trust to continue to deliver high standards of care.
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to delivering safe and effective care to all patients. This is supported by the highly specialised Acute Response Team; who’s primary role is managing the deteriorating patient across the Blackpool Victoria Hospital site.
The Team provides‘out of hours’cover, to manage acutely unwell patients across the Blackpool Victoria Hospital site, supporting medical and ward staff, responding to medical emergencies and cardiac arrest calls. In addition, the team respond to calls to autonomously manage the deteriorating patient as well as undertake routine ‘medical tasks’ to ensure continuity of care, to guarantee 24/7 high quality care. The team assists with audit, quality monitoring, service improvement and safety initiatives being considered important elements of the work footprint.
The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology services across the wider region.
We employ more than 6,500 staff, with a turnover in excess of £370m in 2014/2015 and have approximately 900 beds.
The Trust has a leading simulation & skills facility that provides training for all grades of staff to improve the safety and quality of the service that we offer our patients.
We run a portfolio of in-house courses that can be accessed by all staff to enhance their professional development needs. The training is supported by the use of modern equipment including part task trainers for such skills as venepuncture and full body manikins for the practice of emergency drills.
It would be beneficial to have the essential qualifications however applicants not in possession of the Independent Non-Medical Prescribing and/or Consultation and Health Assessment modules may apply. However, this would be in line with annex 21 of Agenda for Change and commence the role as a Band 6 until the successful completion of modules and then a transition to Band 7 will take place. Educational opportunities will include a bespoke individualised learning portfolio that will be adapted in order to meet your specific learning requirements, ensuring development of competencies required for the role.
