Northern Ventilation Services Ltd was established in 1998 and manufactures and installs ventilation ductwork systems. Based in Killingworth, Newcastle upon Tyne, it has its own sheet metal manufacturing premises, and undertakes installation projects across the UK working in a range of commercial and industrial sectors: Schools, hospitals, student accommodation, manufacture. We work for a range of clients within the building services sector.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an experienced Ductwork Installer’s Mate to join our installation team. The ideal candidate will have mechanical knowledge and experiencing in ducting or a similar site-based specialism. You will be responsible for assisting in the installation of HVAC ductwork. Projects may be based regionally or across the wider UK so you should be flexible and able to work away from home, sometimes for a week at a time. Depending on the size of project, you will work either as a pair with an installer, or as part of a larger team of installers / mates.
The role is hands on which means that mates will be required to carry out manual tasks such as manual handling of goods and materials, (lifting and shifting) accessing areas which are not simple to get to, working in confined spaces and working at heights.
You will be required to learn from installers with whom you are working and should have engineering skills such as the use of hand tools, measuring, preparation of items to be installed and minor installation activities. You will be working under close but not constant supervision in an efficient and economical manner so you should be dedicated and hard working with the ability to work on own initiative.
REQUIREMENTS
CSCS Card - Labourer or Experienced work card ESSENTIAL
Training - IPAF, PASMA, Face Fit, Working at Heights, Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels, NVQ Level 2 Ductwork installation or other relevant trade DESIRABLE
Work Experience - Previous experience of HVAC Installation or other manual role on a building site ESSENTIAL / Experience of working with hand and power tools and competent doing so ESSENTIAL
Driving Licence and use of own vehicle - ESSENTIAL
Flexibility and willingness to work away from home for work purposes - ESSENTIAL
JOB DUTIES include, but are not limited to:
§ Assist in the construction and installation of ductwork systems on customers’ sites across the North East of England, and wider UK
§ Assist in the maintenance or removal of existing ductwork systems
§ Work closely with the Ductwork Installer to complete a high quality finish within agreed timeframes
§ Carry out measurement and cutting of ductwork
§ Use hand tools, portable power tools and other specialised equipment
§ Assist with fitting and fastening ductwork together
§ Work at heights using fixed and mobile platforms; assist in the safe use of both fixed and mobile platforms
§ Assist with installation activities without direct oversight or on-site assistance
§ Ensuring stock is kept up to date and tidy
§ Receive equipment / materials at site, including loading / unloading vehicles.
§ Securely store and monitor all equipment and materials in use on site
§ Maintain tools needed in trade, and regularly inspect for wear, tear and damage before use.
§ Adhere to NVS Ltd Health and Safety procedures at all times
§ Ensure you, and those working with you, observe client safety rules relating to PPE and safe working practices on site
§ Obtain the appropriate site permits to undertake necessary works e.g. hot works, ladders
§ Complete and return all site records, including safety checks, regularly and in a timely manner.
§ Work collaboratively with own team, other trades to ensure a co-ordinated and efficient installation.
§ Represent NVS Ltd in a professional manner at all times; communicate in a friendly and professional manner with clients
§ Ensure that housekeeping is kept to a high standard within the work area and vehicles
§ Dispose of any debris or redundant offcuts generated by work activity on site
§ Undertake non-installation work in support of the Manufacture shop, as assigned
§ Conform to all applicable NVS Ltd policies and procedure
§ Complete Training as required for the role
§ Perform other duties as directed by the NVS Ltd Supervisor or manager.
