Manchester, M2 2EE – minimum 1-2 days a week in office, maybe more during initial training

The role:
As an In-House Counsel, you will be pivotal in our mission to advocate for tenants' rights. You will work closely with senior solicitors, drafting legal documents and potentially representing clients in court.
Key responsibilities:
- Review cases upon instructions from fee earners, assessing prospects and preparing documents
- Draft Particulars of Claim and ensure timely return to fee earners
- Draft replies to defences for the cases you handle
- Assist fee earners with ad-hoc queries, focusing on risk assessment and case success prospects
- Provide tactical and procedural guidance
- Potential opportunities for advocacy, based on experience
The ideal candidate:
We are looking for a detail-orientated, communicative professional with a strong background in housing law.
Key Attributes:
- Qualified barrister, senior solicitor, or graduate of the Bar Vocational Course with housing law experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong critical thinking and flexibility
- Solid academic background, particularly in drafting and civil procedure
- Knowledge of housing law, specifically sections 9/10/11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
- High professional standards and a desire to succeed
- IT literate with good typing skills
- Commitment to staying updated on housing law developments through continuous learning
