A Vacancy at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Neuro-Occupational Therapist to drive the quality agenda, provide leadership and clinical expertise to our dynamic Neurosciences Therapy Service at the Royal Free London Hospital in Hampstead. The post holder will work closely alongside our Neuro Clinical Leads SLT and PT, managing our acute stroke and neurology inpatient services, sub-acute rehabilitation, and complex management teams, and providing supervision to the critical care Occupational Therapy (OT) team.

We pride ourselves on maintaining a high quality, research active and teaching-focussed environment. Our acute stroke unit has consistently excellent SSNAP ratings, and several service development projects focusing on rehabilitation intensity with Stroke Conference abstract submissions. We have excellent relationships with our local early supported discharge stroke teams in North Central London CCG, as well as our local Level 2b Neuro-rehabilitation unit at Edgeware, with whom we have a joint in-service programme and shared Band 6 and Band 7 OT rotations.

We continually innovate and drive change forward, with our redesigned service Neuro REACT (Rehab and Complex Therapy) providing intensive neurorehabilitation and complex disability management for patients transitioning from critical care to the acute wards. Preliminary service data, presented at external forums, has demonstrated excellent outcomes. Our critical care OT team has developed an ICU education programme for non-critical care trained occupational therapists, previously presented at RCOT conference. Ongoing quality improving work is focusing on optimising pathways and management of patients with hypoxic brain injuries.

Therapy Services at the Royal Free are truly inter-disciplinary with a strong emphasis on supportive supervision, active learning, and staff wellness at all grades. We have established in-service training programmes and dedicated Therapies Education and Therapies Research and Development Teams.

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s biggest and most innovative trusts. Across three main hospitals, our dedicated army of staff care for over 1.6million patients, treat more than 200,000 in A&E, deliver over 8,000 babies and carry out more than 17million tests.

Our size, scale and influence offer you unrivalled career opportunities and a forward-thinking approach to working that works around your lifestyle. From flexible hours and generous benefits, to next level training, we make it easier to take your career to the top
