Do you want to be part of an innovative and highly motivated Matron team, making positive changes happen on a daily basis?
We are seeking a senior nurse to join our ED Matron team to contribute to and help drive clinical care improvements for our patients. As Matron you will work as part of the team responsible for setting the standards and quality in the development, implementation and evaluation of services across the ED.
You will work closely with the Matrons across the wider division and organisation supporting flow.
You will have a passion for developing staff and creating a learning environment across the department, and demonstrate exceptional situational leadership enabling and empowering your teams. Your excellent communication and leadership skills will enable your team to embrace improvement, as a continuum in order to enhance the patient experience in all they do.
To manage the delivery of all nursing aspects of the area of responsibility, as set out in the KPIs by:
Conducting audits of quality within your clinical areas and responding with action as required to ensure consistent high standards of care
Holding senior sisters/charge nurses to account for delivery of their trust & Divisional objectives;
Providing a professional nursing perspective on all plans within your areas of responsibility
Ensuring effective action is taken where nursing performance is at risk of falling below expected levels (e.g., coaching nurses and developing corrective plans).
To provide visible clinical & professional leadership to the department(s) within your areas of responsibility. You should ensure that 50% of your hours of work are spent in this frontline oversight of quality.
To ensure that mechanisms are in place for the collection and submission of the relevant performance data for the areas of responsibility.
Supervise and ensure a consistent approach to nursing across all areas covered, through collaborative working and the development of shared procedures and guidelines, supervising the auditing of practice and the development of action plans.
Drive continuous improvement, and role model the vision of the modern matron as described in the Matrons’ handbook 2021
Ensure that all nursing staff adhere to the Trust and Divisional Policies, Protocols and Procedures.
