Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust paediatric team are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated paediatric nurses to work on both our acute inpatient unit, paediatric daycase unit and paediatric assessment unit. A rotation between all 3 areas is also available.

Rotations can include;

Ward 21; 21 bedded unit which cares for medical, surgical and high dependency patients.

Our Paediatric Assessment Unit is housed in a purpose built Urgent Emergency Care Centre (UECC) and cares for patients aged 0-16 years.

Our Paediatric Daycase unit delivers care for elective surgical patients under the ENT, Surgical and Trauma teams. Our Daycase unit also facilitates elective MRI scans.

It is an exciting time to join the paediatric team at Walsall due to the expansion and progression of the service. The paediatric team is leading the way in progressing virtual wards and a new team structure is creating a new dynamic way of team working.

We will offer the successful applicants a structured development package and the opportunity to be a valued member of our team. We are able to offer a comprehensive bespoke induction package for our newly qualified staff members in addition to Walsall Trust preceptorship programme.

Paediatric Unit

Band 5 Staff Nurses -

Rotations can include;

We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic and motivated paediatric nurses who are able to work autonomously as well as part of a team to help us to provide the high quality care to our patients we pride ourselves on.

• Has an understanding of the NMC Code and Trust Policies and Procedures relating to confidentiality.

• With guidance uses analytical and judgemental skills to participate in collaborative decision making within the nursing team.
• Works in partnership with patients and their carers in decision making, ensuring their views are taken into account.
• Is able to recognise own limitations to practice guided by the NMC Code Conduct, Scope of Professional Practice, Trust Policies and Procedures.
• Has an understanding of the effective management of resources both financial and physical.
• Has a working knowledge of the incident reporting system and mechanisms for actively reducing risk .e.g. identify need and request risk assessment.
• Deliver safe, high quality and effective care
• Works with patients, families and all members of the MDT to plan and deliver care
• Be receptive to change and participate in activities which bring about service improvement.
• Be aware and deliver the national benchmarks for standards of good practice
