Summary


Our Team is passionate about providing outstanding 24 hour Paediatric Emergency Care to all our patients and we are seeking dynamic individuals who can flourish working within a fast paced and demanding environment. You will need extensive clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in the multidisciplinary team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an amazing team!

The department is supported by designated Practice Development Nurses and a dynamic team of Clinical Practitioners who will support you in developing your knowledge and skills including triage, EPALS, cannulation & phlebotomy, plastering and wound care.

Wehave recently opened our new urgent and emergency treatment centre, which has included an excitingopportunityto co-locate with our paediatric assessment unit.

The post holder will liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the specialty.
Working under the direction of the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse the post holder will Be responsible for the delivery a high standard of individualised care for all patients.
Ensure that care is appropriately planned, implemented and evaluated
Work with minimal supervision and take responsibility for and overseeing the care of paediatric patients who attend the Emergency Department
Manage complex clinical situations, providing guidance, supervision and support to junior members of staff
Support the Senior Sister/ Matron to monitor the safety and quality of care ensuring the provision of safe, quality care and treatment for patients which delivers the best clinical outcomes and patient experience

Be responsible for the delivery a high standard of individualised care for all paediatric patients presenting to the Emergency Department

Demonstrates competent clinical practice . Acts a clinical expert in the care of any child who presents to the Emergency Department

Manage complex clinical situations, providing guidance, supervision and support to junior members of staff in the Emergency Department.

To confidently delegate tasks and activities to a range of team members in relation to patient care

To promote a positive image of Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust at all times.

To work cohesively with all members of the Emergency Department team in
ensuring that the very best service to patients and their families is provided at all times.

Maintain a personal, professional profile, identifying role and skill developments in line with the Scope of Professional Practice

Assist the senior sister by adhering to the procedures for the activation of the nurse bank/alteration of nurse duty rotas highlighting areas when paediatric nursing cover is compromised.
