Summary

Domestic Violence Counsellors (Female*)

Location: South West London (Wandsworth, Richmond, Kingston & Merton), face to face and with remote working
Hours: 18.75 hours (2 ½ days) p/w
Salary scale: £26,000 - £30,450 per annum (inclusive of Outer London Weighting) for FTE and £13,000 - £15,225 (inclusive of OLW) for 15 hours/week.
Qualifications: Recognised counselling qualification and registration with appropriate professional body
Contract: Permanent subject to funding.

EACH is a growing charity providing a range of specialist services to individuals and families affected by mental health, domestic violence and alcohol and substance misuse. Our services, and our success, are driven and delivered by a diverse staff and volunteer team, who are as passionate and committed as we are to meeting the needs of our local communities.

The successful postholder will be responsible for providing one to one emotional support, structured counselling and group work to primarily BAME women experiencing domestic violence and abuse.

As our Domestic Violence Counsellor your key duties will include:

- Providing structured counselling and group work to BAME women experiencing domestic violence and abuse

- Contributing to the overall activities and success of domestic abuse services

- Establishing good working relationships within the local partnerships and promote the service to both professionals and local communities.

- Supporting volunteer and trainee counsellors jointly with other projects and EACH staff.

In order to be successful in this role, you will need:

- A recognised counselling Qualification (minimum diploma level or equivalent) and registration with a professional governing body, e.g. BACP, UKCP. - Trainees in year 4 considered

- Experience of counselling and supporting women from diverse backgrounds affected by domestic violence and abuse.

- Knowledge of the issues and barriers faced by women from BAME communities and the ability to engage them in counselling.

- Knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on women.

- Ability to work flexibly, including some evening/weekend phone/digital based sessions where needed.

- Ability to speak a community language is desirable
