Main duties &responsibilities Providing advice, consultation and information about a range of health conditions and minor ailments, referring to other members of the practice team as necessary; Performing investigatory procedures e.g. taking urine samples, other specimens and swabs; Conducting first-registration checks Chronic Disease Management Giving contraceptive advice Offering cervical smear & auditing Offering specialist information and advice in areas such as blood pressure, weight control, smoking cessation, heart conditions, etc. Administering infant injections and vaccinations Administering travel immunisations and offering travel health care advice Offering first aid and emergency treatment, as required Advising patients in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs Re-stocking and maintaining clinical areas and consulting rooms and equipment, emergency drug stocking & maintenance. Taking accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments and recording these in patients' notes Updating/amending the clinical computer system with details of patient and treatments, use of templates and consultations Liaising with other practice nurses, GPs, reception, office staff and Practice Manager. Attend and participate in practice meetings as required. Assist in the formulation of practice philosophy, strategy and policy and develop appropriate protocols. Active participation in risk management Accept clinical governance responsibilities and information governance. Responsible for infection control & cold chain systems, vaccines & storage
