Millfield School is looking for passionate and dedicated Grooms to become valuable members of our team from September 2024. If you have a love for horses and a desire to excel in stable management, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Our impressive Equestrian Centre boasts spacious indoor and outdoor arenas, accommodating up to 40 horses. With seven school horses and numerous student livery horses, you will care for your allocated horses and support the rest of the team in the routine work of the yard. Working in a collaborative and supportive environment, you will enjoy being part of a small team dedicated to welfare of the horses in our care and the well-being and education of our teenage students.

At Millfield School, we prioritise your professional development. As a Groom, you will immerse yourself in all aspects of stable management and actively participate in our groom development programme. We are proud to be a BHS approved centre, offering staff training to support qualifications within the BHS Excellence Pathway. By joining our team, you will gain invaluable experience and be encouraged to enhance your skills further.

Recognising your hard work and dedication, Millfield School offers a highly competitive salary package, including payment towards ongoing exam and assessment fees. The salary is £28,554.24 per annum (FTE) and on-site accommodation is available in an ensuite room with shared lounge and kitchen at the affordable rate of £110 per month, inclusive of bills and all meals.

We have the following contract options available:

52 weeks – An all-year-round position working an average of 48 hours per week. During term time you will work between the hours of 6.45am to 6.30pm, 5 days per week and during non-term time you will work between the hours of 7.30am to 5.30pm, 5 days per week, with a 1.5 hour lunch break.

Term time plus 6 weeks – A total of 38.6 working weeks with hours of work the same as the above. The 6 weeks will be worked during half terms and the Easter holidays. The salary will be a pro-rata of the full time equivalent.

Please state in the supporting statement section of your application which of the above you would prefer.

**Please note that applications will be considered on receipt, and as a result the vacancy may close early should an appointment be made. As such we would recommend submitting your application as soon as possible**
