About the Role
Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland; however, our preference is that you will be based close to one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Dublin, Belfast, Perth, London or Reading
Salary: £40,600 - £61,000 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

As a Wind Analyst within the Energy Analytics team, you will play a key role in supporting SSE Renewable's global offshore wind development portfolio by performing detailed analysis and modelling to inform project design and financial investment decisions.
The role will involve wind resource assessment and energy yield modelling, in addition to wind farm layout design, site conditions assessment and getting involved in a number of interesting activities.
Main accountabilities could include:
- Analysis of wind resource data from remote sensing devices and meteorological masts.
- Optimisation of wind farm layouts considering many technical and environmental factors.
- Wind flow and wake modelling within energy yield assessment, including the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics.
- Support site condition assessments to influence design decisions and support in-house R&D to improve our internal processes and toolsets.
- Supporting Levelized Cost of Energy modelling.
You may also have the opportunity to be involved with noise modelling, metocean analysis, the ongoing assessment of our operational wind assets, wind measurements specification and assisting with deployment.
What do I need?
We would love you to have the following skills and attributes:
- A degree level qualification in a science, engineering or related discipline with a high level of numerical and computer literacy.
- Proficient in data processing and analysis.
- Experience with industry standard wind analysis software such as Windographer and WindFarmer, along with experience of CFD wind/wake modelling and programming skills - ideally in Python and/or Matlab.
- Some awareness of the challenges and developments within the offshore wind industry, particularly technical issues relating to wind resource and energy yield assessment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as there will be a requirement to communicate to a variety of stakeholders and interact with multi-disciplined project teams and influence project decisions.
