Hays are delighted to be working with a manufacturing SME based in Telford. The company has a T/O of circa £20 million and is growing. Based in lovely offices, this company manufacture a fascinating product.

Your new role

The job of the Financial Controller will report directly in to the Managing Director of the business. The job will have responsibility for the companies' financial and accounting operations by ensuring there are set controls, financial strategies and measures in place to maintain and improve the financials of the business. Duties for the position will involve:

  • Management and control of the group's accounting facilities
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly/ quarterly and annual accounts
  • Consolidation of management accounts and financial reports
  • Ensuring all financial transactions are recorded, filed and reported accurately
  • Check for any discrepancies in the financial data
  • Variance analysis
  • Production of annual budgets and forecasts
  • Recommendation of cost reduction strategies
  • Adhoc visits to overseas offices as and when required
  • Preparation and management of group year-end audits
  • Ensuring compliance with all financial regulations
  • Preparing detailed financial analysis and providing advice to the senior management team
  • Monitoring company cash flow
  • Providing financial analysis and guidance to managers on their departments' performance
  • Supervision of 3 accounts staff
  • Management of foreign exchange
  • Discussing financial controls with department managers
  • Improving financial performance
  • Implementing cost control procedures

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate would be a qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA accountant.
They will demonstrate experience of working in a senior accounts role and of managing staff. They will have strong IT and communication skills as well as have hands-on experience of budgeting and risk management. They will also be comfortable working in a No1 in finance role.

What you'll get in return

The job comes with a salary of £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, 25 days' holiday, free parking and a pension scheme.
