Would you like to join a growing team and be part of transforming services for those who have mental health rehabilitation needs and being part of the development of the new service from the very beginning? If you are an experienced OT, have worked with people who have serious mental illness and hold service users and their loved ones at the heart of everything you do - we want to hear from you.

As a result of the extra investment that is coming into mental health services as part of the NHS Long term Plan, we are excited to be able to expand and transform what we offer to this service user group and their families. You will work as part of a community rehabilitation team as part of the wider rehab pathway offering interventions that are in line with National guidance.

The post holder is identified as having specialist knowledge in the mental health needs of adults and their families with specific focus and remit to deliver significant improvements for patients that have long term mental health conditions and rehabilitation needs.

The community rehab clinical model consists of:

Three areas of intervention including ‘transition’ intervention, where the team facilitates a service users move from inpatient to the community; the ‘hub’, providing bespoke consultation, supervision, training and advise; and the ‘spoke’, where the team provide intensive, time-limited interventions in conjunction with the service users primary team.

Role Purpose:

To provide the Community Rehabilitation Team (CRT) with the defined level of expertise as a registered Occupational Therapist in a dedicated role within the CRT.

This includes to effectively plan and implement a high-quality occupational therapy service with people suffering from serious or complex mental illness referred to the CRT. The post holder will work autonomously and ensure each service user is assessed in relation to their occupational functioning and will work with the individual to identify their plans to maximise independence in relation to daily living.

To provide a lead role as an occupational therapist when working with colleagues within the community rehabilitation team. Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team to use their clinical expertise to participate in the preparation, implementation, and review of plans to aid recovery. This will involve liaison with a range of agencies and services as appropriate to service user’s needs.

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust and have not been an employee of the Trust in the previous 3 years. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

The post holder will provide support/consultancy to the CRT and other appropriate statutory/non statutory agencies in relation to professional occupational interventions.

Professional and clinical supervision will be provided by the identified OT Professional Lead. The post holder will link into the wider OT network within Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and will work co-operatively with colleagues to ensure high quality service provision. There will be continual professional development opportunities available. They will undertake the role of Practice Field Work Educator for occupational therapy students providing student placements in accordance with local agreements and standards. It may also need to support students from other disciplines.

This role is part of a county wide service and is based at the Stonebridge Centre with agile working.
