The Genomics Education Programme (GEP) is the national portfolio responsible for shaping education in genomics across England. The GEP is part of the Workforce, Training and Education Directorate within NHS England, which provides leadership for the education and training system.

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a passion for genomic education, training, and workforce development. This post provides an exciting opportunity to use your specific education and training expertise to help our innovative team by designing and developing the content of bespoke educational resources, as well as taking the lead on key curriculum, competency framework development and other relevant areas of work for the specialist genomic and general workforce.

Using your knowledge of genomics, you will work in partnership with subject matter experts and contribute to the development of high-quality educational resources across a range of formats, including multi-media resources, e-learning courses, web pages and articles.

Using your knowledge of education and evaluation theory, you will monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational initiatives you are involved in and report these findings, make recommendations, and implement changes when required and contributing to pedagogical research.

You will build professional and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, subject matter experts, professional bodies, and other groups, ensuring the successful design, development and delivery of educational resources that meet audience needs and the goals of the GEP

In April 2023, NHS England, NHS Digital, and Health Education England merged to create a new, single organisation to lead the NHS in England. This new NHS England is designed to create a simpler, smaller, high performing, organisation that leads the NHS more effectively and is a better place to work. Speaking with one voice to the service.

The new NHS England board have set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all, which will inform the detailed design work and we will achieve this purpose by:
• Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
• Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
• Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
• Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
• Delivering value for money.
