Patient and Public Involvement Engagement Manager
Vacancy Reference: 146728
Salary: UofG Grade 8, £48,350 - £56,021 per annum.

This post is full time (35 hours p/w) and open ended. Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.

The University of Glasgow has been changing the world for more than 573 years, and today we are one of the world's top 100 universities. We are delighted to have recently been awarded Scottish University of the Year by the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024, demonstrating that we are not only one of the best universities in the United Kingdom, but one of the best universities for the world. Our people have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our past achievements inspire our current world changers.

This is a great opportunity for a Patient and Public Involvement Engagement Manager to join the University’s College of MVLS on a permanent basis.

Background to the role
The MVLS Centre of Excellence for Trials Collaboration (CETC) brings together specialist multidisciplinary expertise from across the University, NHS, and other external stakeholders to concentrate and augment the design and delivery of nationally and internationally relevant and innovative projects/trials
(https://www.gla.ac.uk/colleges/mvls/researchinnovationengagementsupport/cetc/).

Researchers at the University of Glasgow develop and deliver an extensive portfolio of complex clinical research to improve patient outcomes. Patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) plays a critical role in designing research questions that matter to patients and the public. In addition, funding bodies look for information about how researchers plan collaborations with patients and the public and expect high-quality initiatives to ensure that patients and public needs and expectations are incorporated into the research plans as per Health Research Authority (HRA) guidance and NHS Research Ethics Committee (REC) requirements.

The University of Glasgow wants to grow a participatory culture in our research where people inform what we do and maximise opportunities for participation in research and widening access to novel treatments and interventions.

In this role you will work closely with the Centre Manager, the Co-Directors, and the Head of Research Regulation and Compliance, the CETC Patient and Public Involvement & Engagement Manager to lead the delivery of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences (MVLS) PPIE strategy. You will support researchers across a range of projects/trials to ensure that our research activities are robustly informed by a diverse range of patient, and public insights, and are responsive to their needs.

You will raise the profile of University of Glasgow research within the local community developing systems and processes that foster collaboration and a participatory culture and lead the development and delivery of the MVLS PPIE strategy.

You will provide comprehensive high-level and professional research support to academic research teams delivering clinical research projects. This role will be responsible for leading, managing and coordinating PPIE activities across MVLS.
