A busy elderly/dementia 24-bedded residential care home. We are looking for our new register Manager to help drive us forward and sustain a happy place to both live and work.

The well-being and safety of our residents is our top priority - we are looking for someone who wants to help give them the best possible day, every day! Whether this is developing the services we offer and encouraging a comfortable, calm atmosphere and an organised team but also, ensuring that safeguarding and best interest decisions are being made well, with thought and with the appropriate processes in place.

Our staff are of course, equally important and need someone committed and confident in their abilities to successfully run all aspects of a residential care home. In return you will have a cohesive and committed staff team, who want to offer good quality care and support whilst treating everyone with dignity and respect. They appreciate strong leadership and management through supervision, team meetings, training and learning opportunities.

The home is currently being given and requires some TLC; both in terms of the décor and the wider processes. We are currently at “requires improvement” with our CQC recent inspections. Our current Manager has been very happy working at Durnsford Lodge and leaves with some great processes and procedures in place. Combined with excellent care plans have put us in a strong position to drive further change and make us achieve excellent care. We need a strong and concerted team push to return Durnsford Lodge to a "good" rating and offer our residents the quality of care that they should expect.

At our last inspection, the main areas that require work are our management of incidents and appropriate notifications, MCA processes, DoLs and safer recruitment. We have already started making improvements in these areas. For example, implementing ideas and documents from the Better Recruitment Toolkit. All our staff have completed the mandatory training and we are working closely with Plymouth City Council and CQC teams and have Service Improvement Plan in place which we are working through. We hope you will see that there is already a commitment to improve and to work on these things even prior to you starting! We are clear on many of the issues and can discuss these with you openly and honestly so you know what you are taking on!

Therefore, we are keen on someone who is strong at compliance requirements within a regulatory social care service but also has a curious approach; going beyond compliance and being actively curious about the needs of the service and those that we care for. We don’t want to stop improving when we are “good enough”.

We want your input and leadership to drive this forward; we are keen on creativity whether it be a hair salon or VR headsets to take our residents to their favourite place. We also need to make sure the basics are embedded well and running smoothly. Our current Manager may be able to offer support/handover if required depending on when you are able to start.

As Providers, we are keen to work together. When things are running well, we attend about once a week and are on the phone regularly to discuss relevant matters. We conduct monthly provider audits.

**We would welcome discussions on a bonus that would be payable on achieving a "good" rating or higher. We are keen to discuss this as an ongoing scheme that values full occupancy and overall performance of the home.**

Durnsford Lodge is committed to safe and fair recruitment, safeguarding and protecting those we care for and serve. We are striving to make sure all our staff are vetted, selected, trained, and supervised fairly and to a high standard so that they can provide safe, effective, and compassionate care. As this post requires you to be in regular contact with adults who are vulnerable, it is a criminal offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity (under the Safeguarding and Vulnerable Groups Act 2006) to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with adults at risk.

We also strive to nurture diversity through inclusive practices. We will consider all qualified applications for this position, regardless of their age, race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disabilities or other characteristics.
