The Senior Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer will join a dynamic mechanical design team. This role involves developing, preparing, and overseeing technical specifications, system designs, modelling, drawing production, and equipment schedules.
The Senior Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer will lead the mechanical aspects of project design from concept to completion, ensuring all designs meet industry standards and client requirements. This role is pivotal in enhancing the design team’s capabilities and ensuring the successful integration of new technologies and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and prepare comprehensive mechanical design documentation, including technical specifications, designs, models/drawings, equipment schedules, and technical reports.
Design and select mechanical components and systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant industry standards.
Undertake site surveys, inspections, and produce detailed technical reports.
Navigate various RIBA stages, understanding the specific requirements and works to be completed at each stage.
Implement new technologies and methods to enhance design efficiency and effectiveness.
Identify issues and challenges within projects and propose innovative solutions.
Conduct CDM risk assessments and ensure all designs adhere to safety regulations.
Collaborate effectively within the team and with external stakeholders.
Experience & Skills Required:
Minimum 4 years’ experience in an M&E design consultancy.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or working towards such a qualification.
Proficiency in design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and knowledge of mechanical design tools like Hevacomp, Cymap, or IES VE is advantageous.
Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team and lead projects.
