Anson Road is a 24-hour community rehabilitation service for men with mental health needs. The service aims to provide recovery focused support to enable service users to develop, enhance and sustain life skills and coping strategies which will enable the individual to achieve greater independence and quality of life.

Anson Road is located in central Manchester close to the Central Manchester Hospitals site and the Universities. The unit has 17 beds and support is provided by a team of Mental Health Nurses, STR workers, Support Workers and two Occupational Therapists. There is also pharmacy and medical input.

The support provided focuses on engagement in the process of recovery and what that means for the individual, enabling them to identify what their recovery goals are and what support is needed to achieve them.

Anson Road aims to provide a relaxed and positive atmosphere where people can engage with staff and other service users and have access to a range of group and individual activities to encourage the development and enhancement of life skills.

The role of the Unit manager is to provide effective leadership and managment to the ward ensuring the provision of high quality nursing care.



The post holder will provide effective leadership and operational management to the ward
ensuring the provision of high quality nursing care to all service users on the ward /
department over a 24 hour period.
To promote and maintain excellence in nursing practice. To be responsible for leading the
work of the care team and the co-ordination of effective utilization and resources within the
defined area.
The post holder will be accountable to service users / patients, and operate within the Trust’s
framework of policies and guidelines.
To support the Matron with the management of the clinical area.
This role includes participation in the local on call manager rota covering out of hours periods
overnight, at weekends and bank holidays
