Summary


Are you an experienced mental health nurse (post preceptorship) and looking for a new challenge? Come and join us at HMP Manchester!

The role of the inpatient nurse is varied including but not limited to:

* Supporting the multidisciplinary team within the designated clinical area of responsibility within a High Secure Prison environment.

* Ensuring that evidence based optimal quality of nursing care is planned and delivered to both physically and mentally unwell patients.

* To provide care in partnership with service users, the prison service, criminal justice related agencies, mental health, and physical health agencies.

* To support MDT colleagues in the implementation of Trust’s policies and protocols. Also adhere to those of the prison and comply with the NMC Code of Conduct.

* To manage any occurring crisis or emergencies within the MDT.

The post holder will be supported with the security checking procedure (Counter Terrorism Clearance) to enable them to work in a High Secure Environment. It is essential that throughout your employment that you are compliant at all times with the necessary renewal checks every 5 years.

You must have lived in the UK and be able to provide 3 years worth of addresses to validate your application. Unfortunately, you will not be shortlisted if you are unable to demonstrate this. This is a mandatory requirement for the enhanced prison clearance required for the role.

£1542 per annum recruitment and retention premia paid



To support the Unit manager in providing clinical and professional leadership within the designated clinical area of responsibility.

To support the Unit Manager and colleagues in the implementation of Trust’s policies and protocols. Also adhere to those of the prison.

To ensure the delivery optimal quality of care.

To advocate and implement evidence based clinical practice and development.

To collaboratively implement change management.

To provide care in partnership with service users, the prison service, care, criminal justice related agencies and allied agencies.

To be able care for both mental health, physical and palliative conditions.

To deputise when required appropriately.

To deliver group health promotion groups and therapeutic 1-1 sessions.
