Crynodeb

Are you a midwife who is passionate about strong, visible and professional leadership? Do you want to lead and facilitate change? Are you confident in the provision of midwifery led care and optimisation of birth outcomes in all birth settings? Do you wish to act as an advocate for women and birthing people and support their informed decision making? Do you want the opportunity to lead change through research, audit, education and training?

If the answer is yes- then this is an opportunity for you!

The successful applicant will be supported to develop knowledge and skills, and gain practical experience in the key objectives of the Consultant Midwife role within the four principle role functions (clinical practice, leadership, education and training, and research and audit), and support the Consultant Midwife to ensure that the Divisional local and national targets are met.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Consultant Midwife with a focus on expertise in midwife led care, personalised care, birth debrief and birth reflections, and maternity transformation; underpinned by a philosophy of maximising health for women/birthing people and their babies

Personal development, mentorship and support will be provided by Consultant Midwife and wider senior leadership team to enable you to identify any learning or development needs in order to optimize skills and career development during the fixed term period.

This is a training and development post to equip the post holder with the skills, knowledge and experience to enable them to work towards a Consultant Midwife role in the future.

The post holder will support the Consultant Midwife with elements of the role to include personalised care, birth reflections, clinical practice development, and improvement projects with a focus on reducing inequalities, gaining feedback and improving women’s experience; promoting birth as a positive experience, supporting midwives in clinical practice with their education and development, and supporting the maternity research agenda. The role provides a unique opportunity for personal, professional, service and academic development.

Working closely with the Consultant Midwife you will support and enhance midwife led care and physiology throughout childbirth; improving outcomes for mothers/birthing people and their babies.

You will empower midwives to support and meet the needs of all women, including those with complex maternity care issues, developing good relationships and working with the wider multidisciplinary team to support coordinating care and facilitate choices.

The post holder will be expected to be delivering clinical care for 50% of their time; the other 50% will be devoted to professional, personal and service development.

You will be an essential member of the senior leadership team, and a change agent to progress our maternity services forward at Royal Bolton.
