Summary

The postholder will be employed by the University of Reading and working at Waitrose’s Leckford Farm site in Stockbridge, Hampshire.

This position forms part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded by Innovate UK. It is a
36-month fixed term contract based full-time at Leckford and provides the opportunity to support Waitrose to achieve its goal of becoming a leader on the adoption of regenerative farming in the UK.

Apply your skills to drive ambitious change across the Waitrose supply chain and broader retail landscape, enhancing the sustainability of food production at farm level. You will play a pivotal role in the development of a Regenerative Agriculture (Transition) Programme Package (REAPP) that will deliver engagement and communication models to farmers through a range of tools and communication interventions, including virtual, printed, interactive and in-person training assets. You will help strengthen the long-term environmental and financial sustainability of Waitrose supply chains by improving the resilience of the supplier base against climatic and economic shocks leading to improved profitability.

There is a £6,000 dedicated training budget tailored towards your own personal development in addition to residential management skills training.

You will have:

- A Masters in agriculture, ecological or environmental science, or equivalent experience

Essential skills we require as a minimum:

- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Team working skills
- The ability to deliver creative solutions to complex problems
- Direct experience of working in a farmed environment
- Knowledge of sustainable farming practices
- Experience of leading/managing commercial projects with an understanding of the multi-dimensional nature of a KTP project
