Provide National Clinical Nursing and Midwifery leadership in the design and in formulation of strategic actions and models to achieve the NHS Net Zero Ambitions and Goals. Providing strategic nursing and midwifery leadership in the decarbonisation of nursing and midwifery care pathways and in the application of circular economy practice and innovations. Build Sustainability Quality Improvement, Capacity, Capability and Expertise across Nursing and Midwifery Programmes of Care. Build/develop High Functioning Partnerships/Networks within Nursing and Midwifery, Greener NHS Team, with NHS Regions as well as the wider Health and Social Care System in the pursuit of lower carbon safe and effective care.



The purpose of this role is to support the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer – Quality, Sustainability and Innovation, and Deputy Director - Sustainability & Innovation, to deliver programmes of work to embed sustainability and innovation at the heart of nursing models of practice. The post holder will provide evidenced based, inclusive influential leadership, and work with system clinical leads to deliver and embed an effective nurse/midwifery sustainability strategy working with the nursing and midwifery sustainability network to engage the nursing workforce in the sustainability and related innovation agenda.

Experience of national strategic and operational programme delivery in the NHS is essential including leading/deliveringquality improvement and sustainability programmes of change. The post holder will lead an efficient, effective and high-quality professional and well-co-ordinated programme, capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation. The post holder will lead the:

· Development of national sustainability plan for nursing and midwifery.

· Design and Deliver a National Sustainability Exemplar Programmes -supporting the development of climate smart nursing and midwifery care pathways.

· Creation and application of sustainability nurses and midwifery models of care.

· Building and maintenance of Nursing and Midwifery Sustainability Networks and Community of Practice across the NHS.

· Growth of expertise in sustainability sciences, partnering with educational, providers.

· Development of National, Regional, and as Appropriate Global Partners.
