This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Infant Feeding and Nurture team in St Michael's Hospital. The team support service provision in alignment with the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) maternity standards and provide the Trust specialist infant feeding service Monday to Friday.

In this role you will provide valuable support to the infant feeding and nurture team by carrying out a range of non-clinical an clinical tasks. A key purpose will be to work with the team lead and other colleagues to establish a sustainable peer support volunteer service on the postnatal wards.

There will be opportunities to develop your knowledge, skills, and ideas in project administration, service improvement and infant feeding support

• Communicate across a range of methods, both verbally and in writing

• Exchange information with families using encouragement, reassurance, tact and empathy.
• Support information giving in a group setting
• Sensitively support breastfeeding and enable informed choice for all families.
• Recognise limitations of practice. Escalate care or practice issues to registered staff when needed
• Support learning and development of self and colleagues
• Use various Trust IT systems to organise, record and communicate patient care and provide administrative support
• Show an awareness of equity, diversity and inclusivity. Be considerate and respectful towards colleagues and families
• Orientate volunteers and provide ongoing support
• Gather and evaluate data
