Pathology Blood Sciences is looking to recruit a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the Blood Sciences team in a rotational role between Specimen Reception and Blood Sciences (Haematology & Biochemistry).

You will be required to support the day to day activities of the pre-analytical and analyticals teams with a focus on workflow, testing and quality assurance.

You will:
• Possess good communication and organisational skills.
• Be (ideally) fully competent in pre-analytical Specimen Reception procedures.
• Work as part of a large team.
• Have a positive approach towards service development


• To perform sample receipt and data entry.
• To perform a range of routine healthcare science activities e.g. sample preparation and storage.
• Continued rotation through the different sections including Biochemistry, Haematology and Specimen Reception.
• To work flexibly in reflection of service needs this may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service.
• Follow policies and procedures ensuring that the quality management system of Pathology is complied with.
• The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions.
