The Women's Health Research Centre (WHRC) is at the forefront of research aimed at improving outcomes and experiences in women's reproductive health and childbirth.

At the current time, we are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Band 7 Senior Clinical Research Midwife/Nurse/Practitioner. This person will play an important role in the coordination of a variety of research studies and patient recruitment.The WHRC has a diverse research portfolio, including preconception, obstetrics, urogynaecology and Genomics studies. In the first instance it is expected that the postholder would lead on Gynaecology studies, specifically menopause studies. Experience of working on CTIMP’s and Commercial research studies would be an advantage.

This research Midwife/Nurse/Practitioner will be able to run research clinics as needed, undertake clinical work relevant to WHRC research projects and play a strategic role in the development of the WHRC portfolio.

The postholder will help to develop effective ways of collaborative working which best facilitates recruitment and project management of portfolio adopted and commercial studies. They will work cross-site (Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital & St Mary’s Hospital) as needed. The postholder will support the Lead Research Midwife with the overall running of the WHRC, be able to act as deputy when needed and line manage a team of research nurses and midwives.

· The post holder will support the aims of the Trust and the NIHR clinical research network to improve the speed, quality, and integration of clinical research, through the successful delivery of clinical research in the NHS.

· The post holder is a recognised expert in one or more specialities and in the field of clinical research, providing advice, care and support to patients entering clinical trials. He/she will take responsibility for the planning, development and implementation of the clinical research portfolio that reflects the patient population, the work and interests of the local clinical teams.The main focus of the role will be to take a leading role in the management of care pathways for patients and carers participating in research, ensuring that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery. You will provide expert support to colleagues through the research study process, from grant application, to feasibility, to clinical pathways, to study delivery. You will work collaboratively with the research teams and the wider multidisciplinary team and act as a professional role model, providing clinical care and teaching to staff researchers, research participants and patients.

· You will lead on the development and updating of local policies and procedures and contribute to the development of national policies.
