Learning and Participation Officer
Heritage and Culture, Newark and Sherwood District Council
Fixed Term Contract – 24 months (July 2024-June 2026)
Part-time, 18.5 hours per week (will include some weekends and occasional evenings)
NS6 £24,702 to £25,979 pro rata per annum
Applicants for this post will require an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
As a Learning and Participation Officer, you will be part of the award-winning Learning and Participation Team at the National Civil War Centre - Newark Museum, leading school visits and facilitating family and community activities.
You will be a strong communicator, with a background in formal and/or informal education. In this role, you will deliver engaging and lively sessions for children and young people of all ages. This will include primary and secondary school sessions, Mini Museum sessions for the under 5s, and Family Saturdays once a month. This is a varied role: you might be dressed as a civil war soldier demonstrating a musket drill, leading the medieval dancing at Newark Castle, or handling 17th century artefacts with A level students. Flexibility, creativity, and playfulness are an advantage!
We can offer a competitive salary and, in addition, you’ll enjoy the benefits of flexible and agile working, a generous holiday allowance that increases with service, £10/month gym membership at one of our four gyms across the District, free staff car parking, and a very competitive occupational pension. In addition, you will be joining a professional and passionate team.
For more information, or for an informal discussion about the role, please contact Denise Greany – Learning and Participation Manager on 01636 655606 or email denise.greany@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk
To apply, please submit your CV along with a supporting statement explaining how you meet the essential criteria for the role as detailed on the person specification, via the Council’s iTrent recruitment portal. You can access the portal using the following link. iTrent Recruitment Portal
