An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic band 3 Sleep Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) to join our expanding Liverpool Sleep and Ventilation Service.

This exciting role will provide the successful candidate with a wonderful opportunity to develop skills with further training in the management of patients with sleep related respiratory conditions by carrying out basic diagnostic tests and assisting in initiating respiratory sleep support treatment.

Primarily based at the Sleep laboratory, Aintree University Hospital you will play an active role in this busy department. You will be given relevant training in setting up patients on diagnostic sleep tests. After a period of relevant training and supervision you will be assisting with management of patients on CPAP therapy and will assist in the follow-up and ongoing review of these patients via face to face and virtual platforms.

As the service develops community diagnostic centres there will be a requirement for staff to rotate around satellite clinics within the Liverpool area.

The successful candidate will be required to work closely with the medical team, our admin team, other clinical physiologists in the department and members of the multi-disciplinary team.

It is essential that you are self-motivated and have good communication skills. You should have clinical experience, preferably within the NHS.

The Band 3 postholder will be required to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team towards the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and contribute to and maintain excellent standards of patient care and clinical practice.

The role involves daily face to face interactions (and virtual) with patients to support the wider team to deliver education, instruction and treatment so excellent communication and reporting skills is essential.

There is a requirement to occasionally work nights supervising patients requiring sleep diagnostics such as Polysomnography.

With appropriate training and instruction, to maintain the stock levels with the current inventory recording system/process, liaising with senior staff with regards to ordering.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
