Crynodeb

We are looking to recruit a Senior Officer for Special Education and Disabilities to work as part of our Schools Quality Assurance and SEND Team to help us further develop inclusive practice in our mainstream schools and deliver the SEND and AP Change Programme in partnership with the Department for Education and key partners across Greater Manchester. The Senior Officer for Special Education and Disabilities will work across education, health and care to develop over-arching strategy to inform practice in a wide range of settings.

Manchester’s vision is for all children to be safe, happy, healthy and successful. We work with partners to ensure children and young people’s aspirations are recognised, can be realised and that disabled children/young people can be independent and have choices.

Our children and young people are at the heart of Manchester, and we are currently working towards UNICEF City Friendly City status. Our aim is to build on the strengths of our people to ensure that all families can benefit from the economic growth of our City.

If you are looking for a new challenge in an environment that can truly make a difference to children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities, this is the role for you.

The appointable candidate will be required to start on 1st September 2024.

The post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request.

This post is also subject to satisfactory references, proof of right to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 and other pre-employment checks where applicable.

We are an Equal Opportunities Employer, and we positively welcome applications from all candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. Please see attached Role Profile for more information about the role.

Please contact Charlotte.Wilson@Manchester.gov.uk for more information about the role.
