2 x Junior Clinical Fellows required to commence August 2024. Following recent internal promotions, The Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust now looks to appoint a new junior clinical fellow in Intensive Care based at the West Middlesex Hospital.

The post holder will take part in a 1 in 8 full shift rota covering the Intensive Care Unit. The post holder’s role can be adapted to suit the individual interests and training needs of the candidate. The post could be offered with and interest in teaching and education, clinical governance and risk management or research to fulfil the training needs of the candidate. Also it may include spending time in operating theatre or maternity to help candidates progress further in their training.

Please note, we anticipate a very high number of applciatns on this role and due to quick turnaround required in this instance, we will be prioritising applicants already within the NHS matrix.

Roles and responsibilities
• The post holders will take part in a 1 in 8 full shift ICU rota
• The post holder will be supported and work closer with a Senior Clinical Fellow/ST3/ST4 and they will share duties during the day to day and oncall work.

There are other middle level rotas dedicated for covering theatres, paediatric emergencies and maternity
• They must have a thorough up-to-date knowledge of resuscitation techniques and undertake to update these yearly. They will be encouraged to update their knowledge and skills regularly by attending appropriate courses/meetings
• he post holder will be encouraged to attend and participate in Departmental teaching sessions, Journal Club meetings and morbidity & mortality meetings. For those without the FRCA, FCIM or EDIC, encouragement and help will be given to take this examination. They will be expected to take part in the regular audit meetings of the department and to be involved in organising and facilitating suitable audit projects for presentation.
• The post holder will be supported if she/he/they wish to get competencies to apply forST3/ ST4 in anaesthetics.
• The post holder will be supported to gain competencies needed to apply for CESR in her/his/their chosen speciality
• he post holder will be expected to maintain their continuous professional development and time and funds will be given for study leave in line with Trust policy
• he post holder should understand that flexibility is essential; he/she may be asked to accept additional duties in emergencies or unforeseen circumstances
• his job description may be subject to change according to the varying needs of the service. Such changes will be made after discussion between the post holder and his/her/their manager
• ll duties must be carried out under supervision or within Trust policy and procedure. You must never undertake any duties that are outside your area of skill or knowledge level. If you are unsure you must seek clarification from a more senior member of staff.
