3x Junior Clinical Fellow is needed in Trauma & Orthopaedics . The role will be based atWest Middlesex University Hospital.

The post is full time for 12 months fixed term.

Currently the team consists of 9 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 5 Specialist Registrars, 3 Specialty Doctors, 2 Core Speciality Trainees, 10 Junior Clinical Fellows, a Specialist Trauma Nurse and an advanced nurse practitioner.

The Surgical Division is led by a Director who is a member of the Trust Board, and is supported by a General Manager, Associate Directors and a Clinical Director.

The appointee will be scheduled for on calls duties, which are currently shared between 8 doctors, attending ward rounds, theatres and caring for ward patient.

The West Middlesex University Hospital is an evolving, dynamic, growing unit in West London, with a proven teaching and training track record proven by GMC feedback and successive Orthopaedic Regional Trainer of the Year awards.

There are also growing research opportunities with collaboration with NIHR, Imperial College as demonstrated by recent publications and international presentations on virtual fracture clinics and frugal innovation

The successful candidates must be proactive, eager to engage and be a part of the team and hold a full GMC registration.

Roles and responsibilities

Set timetables are provided for each of the staff within the Unit, but some flexibility is required at times of colleagues leave. All JCF duties are carried out on one site, at the West Middlesex University Hospital.

Clinical:

10 Junior Clinical Fellows (including this post) work on rolling rota 1:9 (10th post is a job share daytime only).

There is a full outpatient and inpatient service at the West Middlesex University Hospital, as well as allocated theatre time.

JCFs are not required to do clinics, but are welcome to attend to observe if free. There is a responsibility for caring for the ward patients, and the ST1/2 doctors and Clinical Fellows are expected to be on the morning ward round with the Registrar.

There is also an active Postgraduate Centre at West Middlesex Hospital.

Research:

Facilities are available for clinical research and individual projects.

Teaching:

The West Middlesex University Hospital provides regular teaching for clinical students of the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine. The Orthopaedic department has a proven track record with education and training. As JCF, you will have access to the same on-site teaching and training as the Deanery CTs and STs.
