CLINICAL TEACHING FELLOW

As part of an ongoing redevelopment of the Cardiology medical workforce, we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the Royal Free Cardiology team.

We are looking for a suitably qualified individual to work as a Clinical Teaching Fellow for Royal Free Cardiology. This post is based at the Royal Free Hospital with an equal commitment to develop medical education, as well as support a comprehensive clinical cardiology service.

The appointed candidate will help support a thriving undergraduate medical education programme with the opportunity to develop bespoke quality improvement and teaching research projects. There will also be the opportunity to prepare students and deliver 4thand final year OSCEs.

The clinical component will encompass working on a cardiology ward and coronary care unit in a busy London Heart Attack and Tertiary Centre with the management of patients with a variety of cardiac conditions. These also include patients admitted through portfolio services at the Royal Free including those with pulmonary hypertension, carcinoid heart disease and amyloidosis. There is no on-call commitment to this post.

Royal Free Cardiology has a large non-invasive diagnostic service including advanced echocardiography, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI as well as the coronary intervention service. In addition, the Barnet General Hospital site also houses an expanding pacing, complex device implantation and EP & ablation service. There are cross-site MDTs for coronary disease, heart failure and valvular heart disease as well as monthly governance meetings.

Applicants looking to expand their clinical experience in cardiology and are considering a career in cardiology as well as a commitment to teaching and quality improvement are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates should have completed training to at least FY2 or equivalent. This post is not approved by the Deanery for training.
