CAT 2 Inspection Engineer– Come Work with us!

Stork are recruiting for a CAT 2 Inspection Engineer based in West Yorkshire on a permanent basis. As CAT 2 Inspection engineer at Stork you will be the Inspection focal point for asset with responsibility for day-to-day interface with inspection and the wider Integrity Engineering function. To be successful in the role you will be experienced with the in-service inspection of pipework, vessels and small diameter plant storage tanks.



Tasks and Responsibilities as Inspection Engineer:

Preparation of WSEs in accordance with the Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR).
Preparation of inspection workscopes to satisfy the Written Schemes of Examination. (WSE) I.e. specify access, insulation removal and NDT requirements. Specify if the inspection is invasive or not invasive.
Carry out examination of major pressure systems in accordance with the WSE.
Typical equipment found on site is process pipework, pressure vessels and small diameter plant storage tanks.
Interface with NDT team to provide clarification on NDT inspection techniques in order to meet integrity objectives.
Preparation of inspection reports, accurately describing the assets condition.
Grade corrosion against company procedure corrosion scales. Raise mandatory defects when the acceptable limits have been breached.
Review client MOC once equipment has been made out of service (OOS), ensuring OOS specification is fulfilled.
Perform pipework fitness for purpose assessments.
Review Pressure Relief Device certification. Ensure the device is correctly set and is overhauled/tested on a set frequency.
Review WSE and inspection frequency post inspection to confirm accuracy and relevancy.
Review and approve inspection reports written by CAT3 Inspection Engineers.
Review and approve WSEs written by CAT3 Inspection Engineers.
Participate in the Risk Based Assessment programme for pressure systems equipment,
Manage PSSR 28 day reporting KPI, demonstrate all inspection reports are written within 28 days of issuing the interim report. Provide KPI data to the Inspection Body.
Regular communication with the client to report the progress of inspections and attainment of the P6 plan.


People Management:

Carry out on-site mentorship to Storks Trainee Inspection Engineers.
Carry out briefings/Tool Box Talks to all Inspection/ NDT Personnel.
Lead and manage the inspection resources applied to defined area of responsibility.
Ensure that the personnel selected for the scope of work are trained, qualified and competent to carry out the task.
Support the company to recruit and development of a suitable and competent workforce.


Specific Requirements for the Inspection Engineer:



Education & Technical Experience

Essential

Understanding of Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR).
Understanding of piping and vessel design codes, e.g. ASME VIII, PD5500, ASME B31.3.
Education and Experience to satisfy Category 2 Inspection Engineer as defined in UKAS RG2: Incorporated Engineer as defined by Engineering Council or equivalent (e.g. appropriate HNC), At least 5 years’ experience within a relevant engineering discipline of which at least one year shall have been spent working within an engineering discipline associated with in-service inspection of pressure systems.
Suitable engineering experience performing in-service inspection of pipework, vessels and small diameter plant storage tanks.
Ability to read and interpret commonly used engineering drawings and data sets used in support of inspection activities, e.g. piping isometrics, vessel general arrangements, piping and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, piping schedules.
Understanding of common degradation mechanisms found in API571.
Understanding of the uses and limitations of commonly applied non-destructive examination techniques (NDT) searching for specific degradation mechanisms.
Computer literate with the ability to use common Microsoft Office packages.
Ability to work without supervision and to provide effective supervision to others.
Ability to effectively communicate and articulate inspection and corrosion issues at all levels within the clients and Storks organization.
Ability to communicate fluently and effectively, in the English language, with peers, direct reports, sub-contract personnel and immediate management.
