This team works across a range of specialities including Neurosciences, ENT, Critical Care, and Neonatology. You will be working alongside Clinical Specialist SLTs for Paediatrics and Neonates and alongside other Band 7s and Band 6s in the team. There is strong support from the MDT and well-established MDT services eg the Neonatal MDT and the long term ventilation team. There will be supervision and training provided to develop both your clinical and your leadership skills. This service is evolving and growing and we are developing our national collaborations. We are looking for an individual who wants to help us grow and develop this service.

This post is permanent full time Band 7 post however we welcome interest in part-time and job share.

You would be part of a specialist Speech and Language Therapy team responsible for the provision of a Speech and Language Therapy service to the Nottingham Children’s Hospital. This involves the assessment, differential diagnosis and management of communication and feeding problems of paediatric inpatients, across the age range within Paediatrics, with a wide range of complex medical conditions.

You will be based at Queen’s Medical Centre with opportunities to work cross site in Neonatal service. The role also spans paediatric Critical Care through to ward level, providing early intervention and multi-disciplinary intensive assessment and management. The SLT role is working with babies and children during their admission, addressing their swallowing/eating and drinking difficulties and also their communication difficulties. The role includes supporting the children and MDT colleagues for a well-planned and supported early discharge home and back into education. The role also includes inter-disciplinary teaching and training of patients, families, and other professionals. There may be some opportunities for some outpatient or MDT clinic work. The post-holder will work with the Clinical Specialists to scope out future developments for the SLT role for these patients.
