Summary


The role of the SLT is to develop and provide a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to people with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs as part of a multi-disciplinary team – this role sits within the within a Low Secure Hospital in the Nottinghamshire Low Secure Community Forensic Care Group. You will be working with adults who have/experience Mental Health difficulties, Personality Disorder, Neurodiversity diagnoses & Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

The role requires a high level of clinical and professional expertise in order that the population can benefit from a well-coordinated pro-active, specialist, efficient and effective SLT. The role remit includes individual assessment, diagnosis, therapy and management, training, advice & liaison. It also involves supporting the accessibility of recovery focused interventions and sessions.

• To be autonomous and responsible for the assessment, formulation and management of a specialist clinical caseload ensuring practice is in line the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist’s Position Paper and Quality Guidelines.
• To coordinate access to speech and language therapy
• To develop and implement the 5 Good Communication standards
• To represent the Speech and Language Therapy service at agreed forums as required.
• To work as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team across a variety of agencies and locations in order to maximise communication opportunities for patients
• To be responsible for the mentoring, supervision and management of junior speech and language therapists, assistant speech and language therapists and students as required
