We are a small but thriving unit with only 14 beds which takes elective and emergency Ear Nose and Throat & Maxillofacial cases. As specialists in Ear, Nose and Throat & Maxillofacial surgery you will learn a vast amount about head and neck cancers, tracheostomies & laryngectomies as well as all the elective surgical and emergency conditions that patients develop.

We welcome experienced and newly qualified applications and even if you don’t have any ENT or Max Fax experience, then do not worry as we have our own specialist nurses & a clinical educator who can teach you everything you will need to know. We are more interested in what you can bring to our team such as experience, attributes, behaviour & your wider nursing skills as we want the best all rounded nurses for our team. As well as our specialist nurses you will also meet many members of staff from the wider Multi-disciplinary team such as the Dieticians, Speech & Language therapists, Physiotherapists/OT, who all play an important role to support you and our patients throughout their stay and after their discharge.

This role is demanding at times however, it is so rewarding and worthwhile. You will have excellent communication skills, be forward thinking and well organised, with a positive attitude. Your role will be to work as part of an amazing team providing patient centred, clinically effective, safe and compassionate care, which will ensure the patients have a positive experience.

If you are newly qualified, don’t worry, you will not be thrown in the deep end as you will be enlisted onto the trusts amazing preceptorship and mentorship course, alongside a supernumerary period, which will give you all the nursing skills required to become the best nurse you can and an all-round super-star. In return of your commitment to your own personal professional development, we will provide extensive on-going training and personal development with annual appraisals.

As a Ward 3 Nurse you will have the opportunity to be trained in airway management of a patient with an altered airway including tracheostomy and laryngectomys. Caring for patients pre and post-operatively as well as ICU step downs. You will be able to administer medications and nutrition through alternative routes such as NG'S, PEGS &RIGGS. whilst being able to support and guide your patients giving them the information and training needed to allow them to be independent at home on discharge.

We care for our own emergency admissions and full training will be given on how to treat and monitor emergency admissions such as stridors & epistaxis patients. You will be responsible for your own team on the ward completing individualised care plans, delegating jobs appropriately, providing holistic care, whilst maintaining a safe working environment.

You will work closely with an experienced and skilled MDT team to provide Gold Standard care to all our patients.
