If you have previous experience in these areas whilst being able to manage a diverse group of stakeholders, we would love to receive your application.

The Workforce team provides advanced analysis, planning, data management and reporting internally and externally for the UHS as well as publishing findings and any suggestions on areas for further interrogation or development.

We need an approachable, analytical, well-organised individual with excellent communication skills who can work within a challenging, dynamic and fast-moving environment with critical deadlines. An ability to build relationships to collaboratively deliver successful solutions is essential.

Attached you will find the person specification document which provides more detail about the essential and desirable skills and experience needed for this role. We highly recommend you review this document and use it when completing your application as these criteria are used by hiring managers as guidance during shortlisting.

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.

Specific to this role is the suitability for agile working which is a mixture of on-site and remote working. In addition, we are open to discussing flexibility in the hours that you work. Please talk to us at the interview about the flexibility you need, and we will explore what’s possible for the role and service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.

What you’ll do

The post holder will act as a lead analyst to provide specialist analytical support and proactively inform internal or external stakeholders about UHS workforce. This will be achieved by identifying, manipulating and analysing data from a range of sources across the Trust (and benchmarking with other trusts where necessary) to draw expert conclusions.

You will be responsible for making recommendations designed to support workforce planning, lead on all data quality and recording issues that may have a direct effect on UHS performance, staff and patient experience. Using advanced analytics, data science tools and techniques to monitor and report on key performance indicators and metrics that relate to strategic objectives and understanding.

There is also a requirement to review and develop the business intelligence service to improve access to information, quality and reporting elements to fulfil our local and national reporting and planning expectations.

What we’re looking for

The post holder must have knowledge and experience of the NHS, ideally knowledge of BI tools, national reporting and planning requirements and possess excellent communication skills. • The ability to communicate highly complex information clearly at all levels across the organisation both written and verbally;
• A flexible and organised approach with a proven ability to work to deadlines, prioritise and multi-task, seeking advice and escalating issues where appropriate.
