An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and innovative band 8b ACP to join the forward-thinking Emergency Department team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. The role will be enhanced through a model supporting 50% direct clinical care balanced with 50% clinical leadership and management responsibilities.

What you’ll do
As ACP for the Emergency Department, you will work closely with other departmental ACP’s/tACP’s, Senior Nurses, Consultant Leads, Directors of Major Trauma, Matrons, the Care Group Manager and the Divisional Director of Nursing/Professions. You will lead on all aspects of advanced clinical practice and be focused on patient safety, experience and quality assurance frameworks. You must be able to demonstrate a compassionate approach to the care of patients and the public.
The Emergency Department ACP will provide managerial and professional support on a day-to-day basis to all ACP/tACP’s across emergency care, ensuring all 4 pillars of advanced practice is delivered. You will need to possess the ability to work as a key decision maker alongside the multi professional team, ensuring the safe implementation of an advanced practice strategy within the department and care group in accordance with research, policy, national standards and the NMC Code.
The department has a reputation for pioneering new roles; several members of the senior nursing/AHP leadership team are national leaders in the field for advanced practice role developments. This results in the delivery of expert care, education, and support to patients with complex needs within the most acute phase of their care. The successful applicant will have proven experience as a credentialled emergency care ACP. Track record in leadership within emergency care is essential as are excellent interpersonal communication and organisational skills.
