The opportunity:

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Activities Co-ordinator to join our team in our Ty Coch Nursing Home in Llanishen, Cardiff. The home is situation right next to Llanishen Train Station and is easily accessible on public transport.

The ability to communicate positively and effectively is key as you will need to build positive working relationships with staff, elders, family members and third parties. You will need to adapt promptly to the changing needs of our Elders and always demonstrate sound judgement, common sense, and initiative.

The role of Activities Coordinator will involve delivering a range of group and individual activities within a person-centred environment. You will have a natural flare for actively increasing participating and involvement of not only residents, but their families and members of the wider community.

What we need from you:

Delivering a range of group and individual activities within a person-centred environment.

You will have a natural flare for actively increasing participating and involvement of not only residents, but their families and members of the wider community.

Typical activities could be spending one-to-one time playing cards, reading the paper, or just talking to one of our residents who may be socially isolated and lacking confidence.

Alternatively, you may be leading a cooking or gardening group, arranging a sing along with the local choir, or of course taking the role of the all-important bingo caller!

Assist in the formulation and implementation of activities policies and procedures.

To organise and deliver activities for residents that reflect their individual and cultural interests.

Activities to be developed in accordance with the home's equality and diversity policies and commitment to anti-discrimination.

To support and enable residents to access social networks, social activities, and personal interests, in accordance with current best practice; according to policy and procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations under the direction of the Manager, and within the financial plans agreed from time to time.

Investigate, develop, and extend the range of activities and interest that the Home can offer.

Review and evaluate the activities programme so that it is kept up to date and fit for purpose.

Set up suitable data base/recording system in order that full activity records can be viewed by relevant regulatory bodies and/or inspectors.

Ideally you will have experience of working in an activities position and must have experience of delivering hands on care as you will be required at times to support our elders with aspects of daily living which may include personal care of an intimate nature.

What we will offer in return:

Free Uniform

Free DBS

Free onsite parking

Wellbeing support

Dedicated learning and development team

Perkbox discounts

5.6 weeks annual leave each year (pro rata)
